What is Cloisonne?

Have you ever seen something so colorful that it grabs your attention immediately. Not only is it full of color but its details are very beautiful. So what is cloisonne? cloisonne is an enameling technique where thin wire partitions-cloisons-are filled with enamel. Its an art form practiced in ancient Byzantium and in China today. Cloisonne comes from the French verb cloisonner, to partition.

Beautiful closeup shot of a Chinese Cloisonné vase. Such vivid colors. Have a look here for some more on what Cloisonné is and where it comes from: some-quick-info-on-cloisonne-enamelware-and-where-it-comes-from/

I always think cloisonne is so under appreciated.
